National Authority protecting citizens

Who protects our data? Who advocates for better data management?

I was surprised to see that Sweden has their own data protection board. I think more countries should follow their lead. Here in Australia who have the freedom of information act but do we have someone who audits companies and organisations to determine if they are correctly handling citizens data.

Here is a good website that lists each countries data protection policies

Different explorations

I was riding the bus on the way to work the other day (always a productive thinking time!!!!) and my thoughts turned to the brilliant renew Newcastle project. This is a project that aims to give creative people vacant stores and spaces within the CBD in return for them being custodians of them. So maybe I could take a space and conduct an exploration of data with people. Not quite sure how this would work but I'm going to think about it over the christmas and new year period and put in an application sometime in the new year.

If anyone has any thoughts on things I could do in a space to explore the meaning of data. Or if you have done something similar. Drop me a line. I would love some ideas
